Hello, my friend. Welcome back to Walking Together. I'm so glad you've joined me today. Before we begin, take one slow breath. As you breathe, thank God for today, not because it's extraordinary, but because every ordinary day matters to him. Have you ever watched someone carefully plant a tiny seed? It doesn't look particularly impressive. No one gathers to applaud. No headlines are written. Yet the gardener knows something important. Great harvests often begin with very small beginnings. Perhaps that's one of God's favourite ways of working. Listen to these words from Jesus. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. It's interesting, isn't it? Jesus doesn't begin with the big things. He begins with the little ones, the unnoticed moments, the ordinary responsibilities, the daily choices no one else may ever see. Our world often celebrates the spectacular, the platform, the achievement, the recognition. Jesus quietly celebrates something different, faithfulness. He reminds us that God sees significance where we often see routine. Throughout June we've been learning to walk with God. Walking is made up of thousands of small steps, not one giant leap. In much the same way, a faithful life is built through countless ordinary acts of obedience, one kind word, one honest decision, one quiet prayer, one act of service, one choice to trust God again today, small things. Yet in God's kingdom, small faithfulness is never small. Perhaps today feels rather ordinary, nothing dramatic, nothing remarkable. Can I gently encourage you? Don't underestimate today. The small acts of faithfulness you choose today may become the foundation of what God does tomorrow. Here's today's sentence to carry with you God measures greatness by faithfulness. One word stands out in today's verse Trusted. Jesus isn't simply talking about success, he's talking about trustworthiness. That feels rather different. Our world often asks how much have you achieved? Jesus asks can you be trusted? That's a searching question. Notice too that Jesus connects the little things with the larger things. Whoever can be trusted with very little? In God's kingdom, character is formed long before responsibility increases. Think about the people throughout Scripture. David faithfully cared for sheep before he cared for a nation. Joseph faithfully served in prison, before he governed Egypt. Ruth faithfully gathered leftover grain before becoming part of God's redemption story. Even Jesus spent most of his earthly life in the ordinary faithfulness of daily work before his public ministry began, again and again. God shapes people in hidden places before calling them into visible ones. Perhaps that's because faithfulness isn't really about the size of the task, it's about the posture of the heart. Small acts of obedience reveal deep trust, a quiet prayer, an honest conversation, a generous response, a servant heart. These are the places where Christ's character quietly grows. As we've journeyed through June, we've seen how the Spirit produces fruit within us. Today's passage reminds us where that fruit becomes visible, not only in extraordinary moments, but in everyday faithfulness. Walking with God has never been about dramatic spiritual experiences every day. Most days it's simply choosing Christ again, loving again, serving again, trusting again. Those ordinary choices become extraordinary because they're offered to God. Perhaps that's today's invitation. Don't wait for a bigger opportunity to be faithful. Be faithful with today's opportunity, because today's small obedience is never wasted in God's hands. Let's pray together. Father, thank you that you value faithfulness more than recognition. Help us remain faithful in every ordinary responsibility you've entrusted to us. Guard us from seeking applause rather than obedience. Teach us to honour you in the unseen moments as well as the visible ones. May every small act of faithfulness become an act of worship, and may our lives quietly reflect the steady faithfulness of Jesus Himself, in his precious name, Amen. Before you continue with your day, think about one ordinary responsibility waiting for you today. Now quietly pray, Lord, help me be faithful here. Carry that prayer into every small moment. Walking this today. Notice where is God inviting me to be faithful in something small today? Pray, Lord Jesus, help me honour you in the ordinary things. Remember God measures greatness by faithfulness. Until tomorrow, keep walking, keep trusting, keep being faithful in the little things. The God who sees every step is walking beside you.
